1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored by a website on a computer, tablet or phone. Similar technologies, such as local storage or tags, can remember a setting or help a website understand how it is used.
Some cookies are needed for a service a visitor asks for. Others are optional and require consent.
2. The categories we use
Strictly necessary: these support security, page delivery, forms, administrator sign-in and the storage of a visitor’s cookie choice. They cannot be switched off through the consent banner because the requested service would not work properly without them.
Preferences: these may remember a non-essential choice. They are used only when relevant and after consent.
Analytics: these help us understand visits, popular pages and how people move through the site. The public website does not currently load Google Analytics. If Google Analytics 4 is connected, its cookies and tags will remain disabled until analytics consent is given.
Marketing and external media: these can be used by advertising networks, embedded video or social platforms to recognise visitors. We do not currently use advertising cookies. Ordinary links to Instagram, Facebook or YouTube do not set their cookies on this website, but those services apply their own policies after a visitor follows a link.
3. Current cookie register
WordPress administrator cookies, including names beginning wordpress_logged_in_, wordpress_sec_ and wp-settings-, are used only when authorised staff sign in. Security cookies normally last for the session; interface settings may last for up to one year.
LiteSpeed Cache may use a strictly necessary cache cookie to deliver the correct version of a page. It does not create an advertising profile.
The consent manager will store a strictly necessary record of the categories a visitor accepted or rejected, normally for up to 12 months, so the banner does not need to ask on every visit.
If Google Analytics 4 is enabled after consent, cookies commonly beginning _ga may be used to distinguish visits and measure site use. Their exact names and expiry periods will be listed here after the service is connected and the site is rescanned.
4. How consent works
Optional cookies are off by default. Continuing to browse, scrolling or closing the banner is not treated as consent.
The consent banner offers clear choices to accept analytics, reject optional cookies, or manage categories. Accept and reject controls receive equal prominence.
A visitor can withdraw or change consent as easily as it was given. The persistent Manage cookies control will reopen the settings after the consent manager is enabled.
5. Children and cookie choices
Expressive Arts is for children and young people aged 4 to 17, but the website enquiry forms and cookie decision are intended for a parent or guardian. We do not use cookies to profile children or serve them personalised advertising.
If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before accepting optional cookies.
6. Browser controls
Browsers also allow cookies to be viewed, blocked or deleted. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect sign-in, forms or site functions. Browser settings do not replace the website consent controls for optional technologies.
7. Updates and contact
We review this policy when services or cookie behaviour change. A new analytics, embedded media or advertising service will be added to the register before or when it becomes active.
